Fowler Animation

During Lee Fowler’s first stint at the Racecourse I noticed his resemblance to Clyde from the Ant Hill Mob. A few others picked up the similarity on popular fan forum www.redpassion.co.uk, but was soon forgotten when the player moved to promotion rivals Fleetwood town in January 2012.

Upon the arrival of new Wrexham manager Gary Mills in 2015, his first act was to bring back Lee Fowler and make him club captain. A decision which split Wrexham fans, but a good time to test my illustration skills.

As the season progressed, Fowler’s fitness and attitude was brought into question, keeping him out of the side. It was then, when the idea to animate him using Adobe After Effects came about. I wanted to maintain Clyde’s attitude and persona. It was my first introduction into creating animation with After Effects. It inspired me into purchasing The Animator’s Survival Kit by Richard Williams, with hope to spur on more character animation.

Just seen @fatmanfowls patiently waiting for a game for @Wrexham_AFC #Clyde pic.twitter.com/XEUmVQnEku
